The OneGrill Story
How it came to be and what it does.

Whether you are camping, racing, boating, 4 wheeling, tailgating, bonfires, at camp or home, and all the other things that make life worth living. Ever since 1974 while participating in one of the above I have had many problems just trying to make a decent meal.

When camping with a nice campfire, I was never able to get a grill over the fire, and adjust the height easily. When I got something close I was sticking my head over the fire and smoke to cook. I also like to do breakfast over my fire and that was usually a disaster. The other thing I like to do is rotisserie cooking, because it is so hands off. I can start my main course and leave it cook while I'm doing other things.

I wanted something portable, easy to store and clean. I wanted something that would last. Stainless steel would be great! The other thing I never liked was that I had grills everywhere. I had a grill in the boat, one in the RV, another at home and one at the lake. They were all different. When we went 4 wheeling I took a throw away grill. At bonfires we could only do hot dogs with long forks. Only one of my grills was stainless. The rest were being replaced every few years. All the so-called portable grills were not even close to portable. They were horrible to clean and store, and they did not last long. I had been cooking on propane when I was not over a fire, and I really could not see the attraction to cooking out. I could make the stuff on the stove or broiler just the same. What BBQ flavor?

The first generation OneGrill was the Campfire version with the grill grate. It was designed to change grill surfaces easily. It was great! I had full control of the height and could spin it off the fire to load and unload. I could lower it to sear the steaks and then raise it to cooking height. I then tried a griddle instead of the rack and made a fantastic breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast)!

Then I was looking at it and thought, I can add a rotisserie on this thing without much trouble. The first motor was electric, but I found the battery unit we sell and that really made it go anywhere. I did a 4 pound chicken. I injected it with chicken broth and seasonings and stuffed it. Set the height and 3 and a half hours later, perfect chicken. I added wood half way through and that was it.

Looking at it again, it was apparent that all you really need is the main unit and a surface to cook on. Mount it somewhere and add heat. I wanted to put it on my deck at the lake for cooking when there was no fire. The deck mount was born. Then all I needed was a heat source. Why not charcoal? You only need a tray to hold it under the grill surface. I built the first charcoal box. My first meal was some rib eye steaks on mesquite charcoal. WOW! If you have not cooked on charcoal lately you are really missing out on the best tasting food ever. You won't go back to propane except for convenience and speed. I built a charcoal chimney and had the grill ready to cook in 10 minutes, not bad.

I developed a propane option for OneGrill, just to cover all the bases. It works great for propane, but I am hooked on the charcoal and fire flavor. (It was decided not to offer it for sale). The last thing to do was come up with some kind of carrying case. That would be the ultimate. I wanted be able to pack everything away when not in use. I also wanted to take it anywhere I went. I found a case the size of a briefcase and that was that. It was important to me that all the options fit in, no matter which ones you bought. I did that too. Now I hope you enjoy the OneGrill, as much as my friends and I have. It will change your life. Better tasting food. Truly portable. Never rusts. Easy to clean. Easy to store. Cooks on any heat source. Enables you to cook anywhere. Fully adjustable. Inexpensive.
